straight forward i would have thought, for anyone with a bit of mechanical ability, not that I would attempt it however....
Are you looking at keeping the yellow one now then?

Re: 1600M change to LHD
Straight-forward, maybe, time-consuming, definitely. I'm in the middle of converting an MGA to LHD and, even though it has all of the brackets etc fitted for both RHD and LHD, it takes time. For the 1600M you might have difficulty sourcing a dash so you might have to make one. Then there's the pedal box and hydraulics to move, electric wires and control cables to extend/replace, details that take time. If you're determined and can do without the car for a while, go for it but don't underestimate the size of the job.

Re: 1600M change to LHD
I would think twice, if I were you, it isn't such an easy thing to do, plus driving a RHD on the continent is far from impossible I do it frequently with two of my cars.
Re: 1600M change to LHD
Hmmm that does look like a daft statement I was imagining that you may consider doing this as part of a body off rebuild..... but didn't write that...GPW41 a écrit :straight forward i would have thought, for anyone with a bit of mechanical ability, not that I would attempt it however....
As for the need for it, as has been stated, and doubtless you know from driving your collection, its doesn't really matter which side the wheel is on. But the enormous difference in value between LHD and RHD cars over here is quite intriguing.

to my knowledge NO LHD 1600M's were ever made so it would be the only one but i stand to be corrected if someone says otherwiseGPW41 a écrit :Hmmm that does look like a daft statement I was imagining that you may consider doing this as part of a body off rebuild..... but didn't write that...GPW41 a écrit :straight forward i would have thought, for anyone with a bit of mechanical ability, not that I would attempt it however....

Is it the yellow one on Leboncoin? Was it originally a UK car? If so, I believe (haven't tried it myself) that it's fairly straight-forward to repatriate a UK car, which would probably make it easier to sell.

Re: 1600M change to LHD
But is it advertised in the UK? My point was that there are probably more buyers in the UK than in France.Alan.B a écrit :it was a UK car and if someone in UK wants to buy it they can no problem.
That would be for the new owner to do not me.

Re: 1600M change to LHD
Alan,
I was quite tempted by your 1600 a couple of months back when considering which M series to acquire. What put me off were the possible engine mods (desirable, but as I understand it, not permitted over here) and a thing I really hate, having had several cars with them, a glass sunroof. Has it had a recent body off rebuild?
I remember well the grief I had trying to find a small enough sliding vinyl one for the Tuscan all those years ago in the age before the internet...

Alan,
As soon as I get around to trailering it back here I will.
Work and holidays are hindering progress.

Dave,
what have you bought 2500M, 3000S, 3000M, 1600M, Vixen or a "S" series or maybe a Wedge or do you want to keep us in suspense
