Re: how many 3000M in France
Right! So let's speak English chaps!
I finally called back "passionengineering" to know what they still have to do on my car and apparently he is missing one part on the engine.
Indeed there is a box on the front of the engine where a bearing is glued. I think it is for the pulley. My bearing is broken an makes noise. Apparently we can't buy this part (I don't know if he has to change just the bearing or the box with the bearing) so he ask at different Ford garages to find it... strange to me I'll have a look what is that part.... shame that I can't go to the garage to check this week...

Re: how many 3000M in France
If you can get a photo of the part we can find the correct name for it. Then the best person to contact to find a new part is Adrian Venn at "Exactly TVR" who is a specialist for "M" series TVR's. If he does not have the part he will say where it's possible to get it.

Re: how many 3000M in France
I've got the same problem on mine, the bearing is still on the engine BUT i've made a "galet rouleur" i have the blue print.
You can see the modification in my "Restauration RAD170R" post.
If you're interested I think I can have one made for you.
If you really want to change the bearing I think it's the same as the lotus elan water pump one (check before buying).
Be carefull mine was just impossible to get out, it's not even glued there is also a locking metal wire and generally it's rusted and since it's in a blind hall in the front aluminium cover it's really tricky.
EDIT:

Re: how many 3000M in France
hi le chouan,
in my Autobooks Capri V4, V6 the bearing is not in a blind hole page 46 and 47 "renewing fan pulley bearing".
On the inside of the bore that houses the bearing there is a plug fitted like a core plug.
You remove the pulley flange first, and Circlip. Then using a Press push out shaft with bearing towards the inside of Engine which pushes out the core plug with the shaft and bearing.
What i would strongly suggest is that you heat all the alloy cover slowly in an oven to expand the alloy to ease removal.
"BurtonPower" don't stock part maybe try "Adrian Venn".
If it's the same as Lotus Elan try "sjsportscars"
good luck

Re: how many 3000M in France
On mine it is a blind hall.
And since you have to get the oil sump out to get the front cover out the modification is easier.

Re: how many 3000M in France
Maybe Ford changed the design and my book is 1969 to 1975.
The kit from sjsportscars is SJ525 and price is £36.27 + vat + postage.
These bearings were first fitted to Ford Anglia 105e and are a very well known weakness on Twin Cam Engines.
That's why many people have fitted a module type of pump.
As you say your mod is for sure stronger and easier to replace if needed

Re: how many 3000M in France
Thanks for all those informations, I'll tell all this to "passionengineering" and see what they want to do. Fir sure the best is to improve with an additional pulley...

Re: how many 3000M in France
OK so he confirmed it is exactly this problem.
The bearing of the pulley is broken.
Therefore le chouan I'm interested in getting the parts to make the modification. I contact you in private.

Re: how many 3000M in France
le chouan mod looks good so maybe later there will be in future in France TVRs with " le chouan mod" .
I understand on the Turbo cars things were changed with this bearing.
Do you think a Galet from a Renault Clio or something like that could be used. That way it would be a standard part and easy to buy and replace in a few minutes.

Re: how many 3000M in France
The other solution is finding a front cover without the implantation for the dummy pulley, i've seen some on the net.
EDIT:
like this one:

I think the dummy pulley used to be a water pump pulley on the first versions of the engine but i'm not sure.

Re: how many 3000M in France
So in the photo there is no Jockey Wheel (Galet). Is it possible just to remove Fan and fit simply a shorter Fan Belt. Seems too easy .
Or do the think the distance between the Alternateur and Crankshaft Pulley will be too long.

Re: how many 3000M in France
If you have the front cover with the dummy pulley it's not possible just tu use a shorter belt because the belt will rub on the front cover near the bearing.

that's why i've made my own dummy pulley
