No need of step liners in V6 essex there is no porosity problem with the cast iron bloc.

I think +0.060" is max rebore dia.
The step is to stop them moving. On christope's V8 a liner moved down into the block by 3mm
Christophe and Wilfried were not happy

If the liner move up and down there is a problem with the reboring of the bloc to fit the liner.

Indeed, idealy you never rebore the all high of the cylinder , at the bottom,as you said Alan, you always let a short step (shoulder) out at smaller diameter to avoid the liner to go down!?...It never goes up because it is retained by the cylinder head and is smaller diameter...

The problem of Christophe with the liner going down is due to a wrong work or due to some technical reason I'm not aware of on the V8 Rover...I guess they got strong discussion with the guy how did it....

+0.060 isn't the max. rebore diameter but it is the max piston size you can easy find ...I found piston +0.1, otherwize they can be made on the mate you wan't/need ...

On Essex engine there is space enough to over rebore , put a thick liner and rebore the liner at the final size needed...

The cheap work they did in the past on my engine is totally wrong, normal size piston and over sized crowns it's insane...anyway, it worked for a while but finally destroyed low engine...I'm not surprised you never heard about, that it is really bullshit work!

Sorry i didn't explain very well.
On Christophe's engine it is an American Ford V8 i think 4.7 lts. The car is a 1965 TVR Griffith/Tuscan which is when the true TVR Rockets began :alien:

Good luck to find some good Pistons and for a good price.

Ok sorry, you explained very well but I misunderstood, I thought Rover V8...
On the Ford V8 289ci and others, it is very easy to overbore and rebore the liner at normal size, there is plenty of space, the engine guy as no excuse for the mistake he did...
I would be very upset about that  !

About the piston it is indeed a matter of price but also a matter of time, such a tiny production lasts months...
